Soulmate

Are you my soulmate?
In a powerful way, you make me feel
I miss you terribly when you're gone
And relive your love by listening to a song

Do you feel young, like back at school?
Showing our emotions then just wasn't cool
But your heart and stomach knew much better
Like when you smiled after receiving my first letter

I'm open and vulnerable, yet, feel strong
These days apart seem far too long
Can I see you soon and relive this passion?
Coming from a man, is my yearning for your love out of fashion?

Obstacles you say, are in our way
But challenges worthwhile we can slay
Feelings like this don't come very often
Will we regret not loving when tucked in a coffin?

I feel like a kid, wanting to hold and kiss you again
For me, my life just seemed to begin
That day I caught your eye
Feeling incredibly powerful, like I could fly

Thoughts may ask, is this a passing fancy?
Going after this, is it a bit chancy?
To leave behind all I know
And go after something different that makes me feel aglow?

Our hearts know it is meant to be
But this doesn't mean it will be easy
To open to love you as you are
And treat you as my precious star

To find your soulmate is to soar to the heavens
I found mine, have you found yours?
I believe the answer is one in the same
And to this fate, we have only the universe to blame

Welcome home, my soulmate
