Treasure Hunt
A child humiliated
For trying to feel
On a treasure hunt, exploring their inner world
Bounty found, bizarre emotions in gift boxes
Fear, doubt, sadness and love
"How do I use these?
I'm sure they're important, there all inside."
A child was told God created her
"So all of these treasures are important to me."
Big person scolds
"Do not open those boxes!
No fear, no doubt, no sadness for long.
"If you dwell in those places,
I'll withhold the prize, you'll receive no love."
Wanting acceptance, she hides her treasures
Until she's much older . . .
Is it too late?
"No unwrap them now."
The inner sage advises
"Immerse yourself, explore them all.
Your true beauty is about to bloom."
With trembling fingers she embraces fear
Broken from the mold, she feels doubt
Sadness fills, her eyes a downpour
Years later
A cloud lifts
She's finally living
Turns to her child and says
"It's okay, mommy gets really scared too."
"Go ahead and feel your feelings."
Treasures are found within.
